Yes! Birthdays are special, and children are welcome to bring individual cupcakes to share with their group. Nothing else is needed for the celebration. Birthdays falling on holidays or weekends can be celebrated on the nearest kindy day, and you're welcome to join us!
If your child has food intolerances, you may provide a batch of substitute treats at the beginning of the year to be frozen and used for celebrations throughout the year.
Yes! From time to time, we organise excursions into the community where children can experience new learning environments beyond the kindergarten. These may include visits to the local school, nearby nature spaces, or the library.
We also welcome visitors and host incursions at the centre, such as artistic or musical performances and cultural experiences that enrich your child's learning.
You'll always be notified in advance of any excursions, incursions, or visitors, and you're most welcome to join us. We encourage families to share ideas and suggestions for new adventures or potential visitors!
Our centre follows thorough, best-practice procedures to maintain a clean and hygienic environment. A cleaner is employed daily outside operational hours to ensure high standards are maintained.
We ask families to support these practices by washing your own and your child's hands when arriving at and leaving the centre, following the pictorial instructions displayed near all hand-washing sinks.
Sun safety is important to us. Please send your child with a clearly labelled wide-brimmed hat each day. We also encourage sun-safe clothing and sunglasses.
Apply sunscreen (and/or insect repellent) to your child at home or immediately upon arrival, and record this on the sunscreen register. Educators will reapply throughout the day as needed. Most of our play areas are shaded, and children without hats will be directed to shady spaces. We regularly educate children about sun-safe practices and encourage independence in sun protection.
Note: If you provide specific sunscreen or insect repellent, we require written consent to apply it.
When you arrive:
Use hand sanitiser in the foyer and near lockers
Sign your child in via KIDSOFT and record sunscreen application
Help your child put their bag in their locker, food in the fridge, water bottle on the trolley, and sheet set in the sheet trolley
Share any important information with educators (e.g., restless sleep)
Spend time settling your child with an activity you enjoy together
Always say goodbye and let your child know when you'll return
When you leave:
Sign your child out via KIDSOFT
Talk with educators, read the Teaching and Learning journal, or check Storypark
Help your child collect their belongings
Sanitise hands before leaving
Children must be signed in and out by an authorised adult listed on your enrolment form using KIDSOFT with their personal User ID and PIN.
As per licensing requirements, soiled clothes are stored separately from children's belongings in a lidded bucket in the adult toilet. If your child has soiled clothes, a note will be attached to their bag to remind you to check the bucket.
"All three of my children - with very different personalities and strengths - had a wonderfully experience at Ayr Community Kindergarten. From the minute you walk through the gate you feel welcomed and part of the Kindy family. Imagine a place that is designed for your child to explore, imagine, dream big and create. The teaching staff are exceptional and listen to each child’s interests and needs to assist in the creating confident and happy little people. It has been a joy to watch my children grow and develop over the course of their time at Ayr Community Kindergarten."
